Modernized Grief

This series deals with a very personal experience. The loss of my friend, Caitlyn Brooke Mathis. Who passed away in a tragic car accident on February 27th, 2012.

I began to see that because I was separated from everyone that knew her, I was isolated by my grief. I realized my phone was a vital tool to my survival during the time following her death. Through the avenues of texting, calling, Facebook, Twitter and Voxer I was able to connect with others who are feeling the same hurt that I was. I found that it was comforting knowing that I was not alone in my grief, when I had been feeling that way for so much of the time since her accident.

The Farm

In this series I wanted to capture an abandoned space as one might see in their nightmares. The colors I have used are vivd and suggest an otherworldliness. I wanted the viewer to feel they would be terrified if they were actually in these spaces, but also drawn to them through the use of color.
